Bummer

“Kirkwood has received just enough snow to get everyone really excited but not enough to open the resort. We are postponing our opening date until we receive colder temperatures which will either bring a colder weather system through, or allow us to make snow. The week of November 20th looks promising. We will keep you updated . . . Think Snow!”
I’m hoping it will be open on Thanksgiving weekend. That would be nice! Think Snow? WTF? I’ve been thinking snow since like August. LOL 😉

Vista

vista.pngI installed Vista on my desktop a few days ago so that I could start getting used to it, learning the new features, and also just to play with something new. So far it’s pretty cool. I don’t notice it haven’t any issues with lagging from all the cool effects, however my machine is way faster then the average persons. I have had some issues to work through. Some apps disable the Aero Glass look and I seem to be having a problem restarting and shutting down. I haven’t figured those problems out yet. I’m sure it’s fixable…but I haven’t really spent much time working on it. All in all the new OS is pretty cool and I’m impressed with a lot of the new features. It’s really easy to navigate through your file system now…and of course the new IE7 that is bundled (rip off of Firefox) is nice to have with the tabs. I like Vista…and am also excited about some of it’s new features being implemented in the workplace. There is a file recovery option that is really cool and would save so many peoples ass’s. I’m curious to see the cost for all the flavors…as well as the upgrades.

Ski Season

kirkwoodnow.jpg November 18th is coming quick. That’s the projected date for Kirkwood to open. As of today that’s the real time picture of the mountain. It’s been a long summer, but not quite as bad as usual. It’s been nice getting back into Mt. Biking becuase it has rekindled an old flame. However it’s just about that time of year when the snow fever kicks in. I am really excited about having a season pass this year and can’t wait to get up there! It will be fun being able to take Trent as well. We were thinking about buying him his own ski’s this year from Santa. That would be a really good gift for him. Then it would only cost $20 to take him up for the day instead of $40. Plus then he would have his own gear. Kaira is really excited about going up to learn as well. I know she is going to be sad when I take Tre a couple times before I take her. Either way, winter is almost here and I’m excited! I got a new (first) helmet too. So I’m going to be a little safer this year. I don’t know why I never did wear a helmet before. But after getting back into biking I realized how important it is to wear a helmet. Plus I am at a skill level now where I am skiing in the tree’s and at speeds that definitely warrant a helmet. So hopefully Tahoe gets dumped on for the next few days and I make an attempt to go skiing this weekend or the following weekend. I’ll let ya know how it goes. 🙂
